Privacy
How we handle personal information.
This notice is given under section 18 of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. It covers people who visit this website or write to us. It does not cover members of a client's organisation attending a meeting — see the last section for why.
Last updated 19 October 2026.
Who we are
Motherland Seed (Pty) Ltd, a company incorporated in the Republic of South Africa, based in Gauteng.
Our Information Officer can be reached at info@motherlandseed.co.za.
What we collect, and why
We do not set cookies, use analytics or embed advertising trackers. We collect the information you choose to send us. Like most websites, our hosting provider receives technical request data needed to deliver a page; the site also requests a display font from Google Fonts, which receives your browser's request for that resource.
| What | Why | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| Your name and email address | To answer your enquiry | Three years from our last exchange |
| Your organisation, if you give it | To understand what you need and quote for it | Three years from our last exchange |
| What you wrote to us | To reply, and to know what was agreed | Three years from our last exchange |
Giving us any of this is voluntary. The consequence of not giving it is simply that we cannot reply to you.
Who else sees it
Our email is delivered by Resend, this website is hosted on our behalf by our hosting provider, and Google Fonts serves the display font requested by your browser. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
Our mail provider operates outside South Africa. Section 72 of the Act permits this where the recipient is bound by rules providing an adequate level of protection, which is the basis we rely on.
How it is protected
Messages you send us travel over an encrypted connection and are stored in systems reachable only by the people who need them. Every message our systems send is recorded, so we can tell you what was sent and when.
If personal information in our care is accessed by somebody who should not have it, we will notify the Information Regulator and you, as section 22 requires.
Your rights
You may, at any time and without charge:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or delete anything we no longer need.
- Object to our using it, and withdraw any consent you gave.
- Complain to the Information Regulator, whether or not you have complained to us.
Write to info@motherlandseed.co.za and we will answer within 30 days.

If you are a member attending a meeting
This notice does not govern that. Where we run a meeting for an organisation, that organisation decides why and how its members' information is used and we act only on its written instruction — it is the responsible party and we are its operator, in the Act's terms.
So a question about your membership record, your vote or your attendance belongs to your own organisation's secretary in the first instance. We will help them answer it, but we cannot go behind them, and that restraint is deliberate: it is the same reason we cannot let anybody into a meeting without their organisation.
Access to records
A request for records held by Motherland Seed may be made under the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000. Our PAIA manual is available on request from info@motherlandseed.co.za.
Changes
If this notice changes we will publish the new version here and update the date at the top. Where a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
